An Empirical Analysis Of Cross-Border Trade Pattern Of Chiang Rai
This study aims to investigate cross-border trade flows between Chiang Rai province of Thailand and major trading partners. The data cover the periods from 2007 to 2012 using the panel data gravity model of trade. The findings reveal that size of population, trade openness and economic corridor development are positive factors influencing cross-border export flows from Chiang Rai to nearby economies. They also indicate that economic size of Chiang Rai, bilateral distance and free trade area agreement show a negative relationship towards Chiang Rai’s cross-border export volume.
